How to Disable Javascript in Mozzila Firefox 23 or Later

Firefox has switched to silent background updates a while ago. By implementing this feature firefox intended to quickly push regular updates without need of user permissions. This also helped to get most users on latest version. Earlier there used to be a lot of discussion about each firefox update and now they mostly go unnoticed.
After Firefox 23 the ability to disable Javascript directly from options is no longer available. Users who frequently use this feature were left in dismay. So, if you want to disable javascript in firefox 23 or later then you have to doa little bit of work.

What is the Need to Disable Javascript in Browser?

  • To enable Copy (Ctrl + C) on websites which disable it.
  • For Debugging Purposes
  • For Security Concerns
  • To disable certain Type of Ads

Steps to Disable Javascript in Mozzila Firefox 23 or Later

  • Open Firefox and in Address bar type the following
          about:config
  • You will be greeted with warning message because we are changing advanced settings. Click on “I’ll be careful, I promise” button and you are good to go to next step.
  • Now in the search bar type the following

     javascript.enabled
     
  • Right click on the first result and select toggle from context menu.
    So, now javascript is disabled in you browser.
    To enable it again you can follow the same process as mentioned above.

    Alternative and User Friendly Options

    If you are not comfortable with editing the settings manually or you need to disable javascript for only for specific websites then you use plugins to acommplish this task.
